I was lucky enough that they were accepting backorders at the time. I hate the Glock kits make no easy provisions for sling attachments, but the Raider doesn't have that issue. If it's in a bag, or if it gets thrown around a little. I've had it occasionally release the brace from the retracted position to open by accident. My biggest gripe is the release lever for the brace extension which looks to be similar on both models. I ditched an AR9 build to put this together and I have no regrets. It is easy enough to remove the offending pieces and just run the standard G34 setup. I keep my brace because the gun operates without it. Once suppressed (just filed a F4 for Obsidian 9) it'll help fill the void. The FlashmagRail also extends beyond the slide, so it does look a little wonky. It rivals some PCC in barrel length, with still less size/weight, like the MPX Copperhead. I have my Flux on a Glock34 Gen5 MOS with a factory threaded barrel that puts it at over 6" of barrel. I personally went with the longest possible barrel to squeeze out as much velocity since it handles more like a PCC. I am 5'5" and at times it feels really tight. A friend who is 6', can not shoot it comfortably. Not the Raider, but with my Flux G34, here are my thoughts. Of course if you think you might lose your brace in a boating accident should they become illegal then it wouldn’t matter but if you think you’re going to end up with an SBRed gun either way at least you’ll get an actual stock by holding off. They are working on an SBR version and with the legality of braces teetering, I would wait to see how everything shakes out. That said I probably wouldn’t buy one right now. Target acquisition and follow up shots when using a red dot are quick and easy. Reloads are crazy fast with the dual release. With extensions I’m at 48+1 rounds without needing to take my hands off the gun. It’s ultra concealable if you’re looking for a “PCC” and you can’t beat the on board capacity. I just took the safety off the frame since I don’t plan on using it slinged and it was easier than taking the FCU apart again. The Apex kit comes with a spacer that, originally, the installation instructions said MUST be used but they seem to have updated those and it looks like it’s optional now. I have an Apex trigger and bar in mine and after installing the FCU for the first time and trying to engage the safety, it broke. It might not apply to you but the Raider safety doesn’t play well with all aftermarket triggers. I’ve put a couple hundred rounds through the new one and haven’t experienced it again. The reason I ended up with two of them was because the brace on the first kept collapsing under recoil. They may have also changed the geometry of the brace itself because it definitely seems less comfortable to shoulder than the first version. The biggest change was removing the serrations on the rear of the brace. The M240 weighs nearly 30 pounds and doesn’t work very well for close-quarters fighting as machine guns tend to break a bit more often than standard rifles (something about firing hundreds of rounds in short order repeatedly does that). That’s why machine gunners get issued handguns.I’ve had both a “Gen 1” and “Gen 2” Raider (I use quotation marks because I don’t think they made two official versions but they definitely changed some things in the months between when I received each). I see the Flux Raider being a niche tool for certain combat roles that already carry the M17, for example, machine gunners. The rifle is small and light enough to work with noncombat troops, including truck drivers, artillerymen, cooks, etc. The M4 and M27 serve fine as general-purpose issue weapons. In a world of carbines, opting for something else seems silly, I know.
